I had to wait till I could read this.
I hope you are happier and have the time it does take to have your family and home..mine does suffer some for my mare tkaes the best of me..Of course my husband often waits too for me but I find time .He is hiking some of the trails with me that I ride so that works out nicely!

I will miss hearing of Brig..this is a bit sad for me…hope you are doing well.

Um, I know that house…we went to look at it a year ago… I used to ride those trails from Hopkins,till they logged them last year.
I have ideas about the house if you want to know more of inside scoop and my thoughts.
That is too funny! I really like the owner, she is a cutie!

I hope you can find a place soon! I know what it is like selling a house, and buying a house on property. It is so worth it in the end though.

Thanks for leaving the comment about Brandy on my blog, I know it will take alot of consistent work at the lope to get her to slow down, and not lean. Unfortunately, with our weather here, it rains all fall, winter and spring, so I don’t get to ride much. I don’t have an indoor arena. I do all my training and riding in late spring and summer. She is doing so well though, for not being worked much through the winter! I am very proud of her, especially with everything we have been through together.

MAN..I had no idea this was coming..well maybe you did not either~
I was about to say board him out with us and come ride the beautiful trails and tariler for some lessons and arena with us sometimes..it has been so restorative for the mare and I…me once dreaming of bigger things and getting kicked gut for it! Yet..l..
Yet, ike you, I can’t afford it truly..and she does not like it as much as I do(the mare).
BUT..sounds like you have a plan= though it breaks your heart..and mine for you~
I am sorry, I hope you settle into your new choice…I do NOT know how you will, but I will pray you can!

I can’t imagine the emotions you must be feeling. Although I have had the same feelings about thinking I’d be better off without a horse.

It sounds like you have put a lot of thought into your decision. Take care of yourself and if you ever need to get your fix let me know and you can come bury your face in Gracie’s mane..

A girlfriend of mine went on a diet. Maybe it was Medifast . . . but I think it was something else. It was very strict but easier to follow. Instructions, instead of “an omelete” were this much meat, this many crackers, this much salad, etc. So, it made it easier for her to follow. Weight Watchers left to much to interpretation for her and eating what she wanted, just watching portions, didn’t work, either. Anyway, she lost 80 lbs in five months! No working out, either. She is crazy-skinny — I didn’t recognize her. She’s starting to gain back because they didn’t show her how to maintain or exercise, but if she can get that part down, she’s golden. Of course, if I could get that part down (long-term), I wouldn’t be going through this all over again! LOL!

I didn’t get Brig from a rescue. The people I bought him from rescued him, but they aren’t a rescue either. The owner of the barn buys into race horses and through a friend of a friend, heard of Brig’s situation and agreed to take him in rather than see him go to the county, or worse.

CANTER is a great organization, but you’d have to drive half-way across the country to get a horse. They may have started one in California, though. I can’t remember. TB Friends is a great rescue, too, but they don’t retrain them like CANTER will. You can also get horses at the track, Portland or Washington, for free or close to it through the trainers. But, you’re better off having someone with you who *really* knows what to look for. There are about a billion and two ways to get an OTTB.
